How to get there

  1. Choose the HyperScribe tool . The HyperScribe menu appears.
  2. Choose HyperScribe > Beat Source > Playback and/or Click. The Playback and/or Click dialog box appears.
  3. From the Start Signal for Recording popup menu, choose Other.

Or,

  1. Choose the HyperScribe tool . The HyperScribe menu appears.
  2. Choose HyperScribe > Beat Source > Tap. The Tap Source dialog box appears.
  3. Click Other.

What it does

When you’re preparing for a HyperScribeA patented method of entering music in Finale by transcribing a real-time MIDI performance into notation. It transcribes the music onto one or two staves, even if you alter the tempo as you play. recording, Finale needs to know what MIDI signal will serve as the tempo reference (or the metronome "trigger"). This dialog box lets you choose a MIDI signal not already listed in the dialog box.

  • [Code text boxes] • Listen. Unless you’re a MIDI programmer, ignore the codes. Instead, click Listen; Finale asks you to play the MIDI signal, and it enters the codes automatically.
  • OK • Cancel. Click OK to confirm, or Cancel to discard, your specifications of a MIDI signal. You return to the previous dialog box.
