VST Plug-in Directories dialog box

How to get there

Choose MIDI/Audio > Device Setup > Manage VST Plug-in Directories.

What it does

Noteman says: When you install a new version of Finale on your computer, your VST directory settings are not copied from the previous version. If you have specified one or more non-default locations for Finale to find virtual instrument plug-ins, you must do so again for the new version of Finale.

You can use any VST plug-in for playback in Finale. This dialog box allows you to specify directories the VST plug-ins installed on your computer so that Finale can find them. VST instrument and effects plug-ins are available for selection in the VST Banks & Effects.

  • Add • Remove. Choose Add to open the Browse for Folder dialog box where you can specify the VST plug-in's folder. Highlight a directory listed under Plug-in Directories and choose Remove to strike it from the list.
  • Close. Click close (or press ENTER) to confirm the changes you’ve made, if any, and return to the score.
