To hide staves, or staves in certain systems without music, use Staff > Hide Empty Staves (see To Hide Empty Staves). To Force Hide staves staves with music:

To "force hide" staves

1. Click the Staff tool . The Staff menu appears.
2. Choose Staff > Edit Staff Attributes. The Staff Attributes dialog box appears.
3. Click the Staff Attributes For drop-down menu and select the staff you want to hide.
4. Check Force Hide Staff and select the desired Collapse option from the adjacent drop-down menu. (With "Collapse" selected, staves reposition to take the place of the hidden staff. See "Force Hide Staff" in the Staff Attributes dialog box for details.)
5. Repeat steps 1-4 for any other staves in the score you want to force hide and click OK. To show staves that have been "force hidden," see To show "force hidden" staves.
