The message bar is the thin strip at the top of your document window, where Finale shows help messages and identifies each tool as you click it. Choose Hide Message Bar to make this strip disappear, so that you can use its space for the display of your score. The command changes to say Show Message Bar; choose it to make the message bar reappear.
