Articulation tool icon

Noteman says: See Adding articulations for a step-by-step tutorial overview.

Use this tool to enter one-character articulation markings (such as accents, staccato marks, fermatas, and so on) into your score. When you click this tool, the Articulation menu appears. You can attach an articulation to a single note in a single staff (by clicking on, above, or below it). You can also apply articulations to multiple notes in a selected region using the Apply Articulation dialog box. Articulations can be quickly assigned to notes using Metatools.

When an articulation is assigned to a note, Finale automatically determines the placement. If the note moves, the articulation moves with it. If needed, the positioning, as well as the display and playback effect, can be adjusted in the Articulation Designer dialog box. To learn more, see Articulations.
