To move a rest vertically or horizontally

  1. Click the Speedy Entry tool  image\Speedy_Entry_Tool.gif; click the measure in question. The editing frame appears. If you have created two voices using the Voice 1/Voice 2 mechanism (the inner-voice mechanism used by the HyperScribe tool), you can move any rest in Voice 2 by dragging it up or down.
  2. Click the rest. You can also use the arrow keys to position the insertion bar.

If you’ve created a separate voice in each layer, make sure you’re in the layer containing the rest. If not, press SHIFT+’ (apostrophe) to switch layers.

  1. To move the rest horizontally, simply drag it. Press shift to prevent it from moving vertically.
  2. Drag the rest up or down. When it’s where you want it, press zero (0) to exit the editing frame. If you want to make sure you don’t inadvertently drag the rest horizontally, press shift as you drag.

Note. that if you’re using the Layer mechanism, you can move all rests in one layer (or all) a specified distance up or down from their default center-line position (see Multiple voices for a more complete discussion).
